Annual Progress of English Language Learners

Title 3 Federal funds

Every district that receives Title 3 Federal funds must be accountable to make yearly progress for English language Learners.
 
All districts in California must meet what the state calls Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives – AMAO’s
 
That progress is measured in three ways.
 
AMAO1 is the yearly percentage of English Language Learners that advance at least 1 level or more in their English proficiency (e.g. from beginner to Early Intermediate).
 
AMAO2 is the percentage of English Language Learners that reach the level of being “English Proficient.”
 
AMAO3 is the performance of ELL students as a group on the annual California Standards Test (CST) in both Math and Language Arts.
